The Atto 2 was recently introduced by BYD, a Chinese electric car manufacturer, and it is their first subcompact SUV. This car is expected to appeal to consumers in Europe and is set to be launched in February 2025. It was first previewed at the June 2021 Motorshow held in Brussels.
Attractive Appearance
The Atto 2 is slightly smaller than BYD’s best selling SUV, The Atto 3. It is 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and has a height of 1,675 mm which makes it sportier and more compact. It is equipped with LED headlights alongside a stunning front grill, a modern steering wheel, and a distinctive style that integrates the roof. The back of the vehicle features a distinctive tail light inspired by the Chinese knot design, which symbolizes good fortune, as well as a full-width light bar.

The vehicle can easily cover an impressive range of 312 kilometers on a standard WLTP charge with its 45.1 kWh battery. Ultimately, the Atto 2 has a 130 kW electric engine that supplies power to the front wheels, allowing it to accelerate with greater efficiency. While that is impressive on its own, BYD has made it clear it has plans for the future to launch more variants with even greater battery range and capacity.
Entering an Already Saturated Market
BYD placed Atto 2 under one of the cheapest SUVs Renowned American or Chinese brands like Peugeot, Kia, Citroën, and Opel. However, the cost is not yet confirmed but if we follow the price trends of BYD, one can expect it to fall below the more expensive Atto 3 Mid Size SUV.
Possibilities of Launch in India
If the dreams of the Atto 2 hybrid SUV were to come true, then the first place BYD would launch it would be India. Given its affordability and luxurious features, the hybrid is without a doubt one of the ideal competitors against e-Vitara by Maruti and Hyundai Creta electric.
